This is a case-study template, not another general portfolio guide. Use it to turn one finished dashboard into a documented business problem, evidence trail, decision, and limitation.
1. Start with a decision
Replace ‘I analyzed sales data’ with the decision the analysis supports: where costs are rising, why repeat customers are falling, or which suppliers create delays.
2. Describe the dataset
State sources, grain, time period, important fields, missingness, and limitations. This demonstrates that you understand the evidence behind the dashboard.
3. Show the cleaning decisions
Document duplicates, invalid values, category normalization, date handling, and other transformations. Explain why each decision was made.
4. Show the analysis behind the visuals
Include the questions you tested and the reasoning that led to the selected charts. A screenshot alone cannot show analytical judgment.
5. Connect findings to actions
For each major finding, answer ‘so what?’ Explain what a stakeholder could investigate, change, prioritize, or monitor.
6. Include limitations
State what the data cannot prove. Observational data, short time windows, missing fields, selection bias, or assumptions can all limit conclusions.
7. Make the project reproducible
Provide the methodology, query logic, notebook structure, data dictionary, or other material needed to understand how the result was produced.
