AI is particularly useful with Python because it can explain unfamiliar code, draft transformations and suggest tests. Generated code still needs review.
Good uses
Use AI for boilerplate, syntax explanations, debugging ideas, test cases, refactoring suggestions and documentation.
Check transformations
Inspect filters, grouping, joins, data types, missing values and index behavior. Small changes can silently alter the dataset.
Validate the output
Compare row counts, distributions, sample records and expected totals before trusting the final dataframe.
Ask for tests
Have AI suggest unit or data-quality tests, then keep only the tests that reflect real failure modes in your dataset.
Keep the analytical reasoning
Know why each transformation exists. Code that runs is not automatically code that answers the business question.
