Case interviews are difficult because there is rarely one correct first step. The interviewer is watching how you structure uncertainty.
Practice the opening
Give AI a business scenario and force yourself to ask clarifying questions before seeing any data. Identify the decision behind the analysis.
Practice metric selection
Ask why your metric is appropriate and what its denominator means. If conversion falls, what population and funnel stage are you measuring?
Practice changing assumptions
After you solve the first version, ask AI to change one fact. A strong candidate can adjust the reasoning instead of defending the original answer.
Practice evidence versus explanation
Separate “we observed X” from “X caused Y.” This single distinction improves the quality of many case answers.
Practice the recommendation
Finish with what you know, what remains uncertain, what action you recommend and what additional evidence you would collect.
Use AI as a skeptical interviewer
The highest-value prompt is often: “Challenge my reasoning as if you were interviewing me.” Do not ask for a perfect answer before you have attempted the case.
